Inscribed with the Hebrew words " No one else compares". Referring to God being the ultimate being. Hebrew letters are carved into the wood from the bottom, reaching up, as though to heaven.
There was once a simple Sheppard who came into synagogue on the High Holy Days, and he raised his eyes to the high heavens and said; “God, I am a simple Sheppard, and all I know are the Aleph-Bet. So, I will pray to you with all my might, the Aleph-Bet.” Moments later, a heavenly voice came out and pronounced that this simple Sheppard’s prayers were accepted more than any other prayers uttered that evening.
